Baseball Game Preview: Willows Honkers vs. East Nicolaus Spartans

The Willows Honkers are taking a road trip to take on the East Nicolaus Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Willows made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Paradise, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Willows blew past Paradise 15-3 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Honkers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Anthony Quezada made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kellan Ramsey was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clint Girard, who scored four runs while going 1-for-3.

Willows always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, East Nicolaus gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Pierce. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

East Nicolaus now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Willows, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.

Willows couldn't quite get it done against East Nicolaus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can Willows avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
