Baseball Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles
Butler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the East Mecklenburg Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 last Tuesday.
Bryce Davis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jack Katkowski also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for East Mecklenburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Butler will square off against Rocky River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Butler is facing Rocky River at the right time seeing as Rocky River is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for East Mecklenburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Community School of Davidson at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Community School of Davidson will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something East Mecklenburg surely won't give up without a fight.
