South Aiken takes loss despite strong efforts from Javarse Houston and Terrence Smith

Recap: South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs. Midland Valley Mustangs
The South Aiken Thoroughbreds lost against the Midland Valley Mustangs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. South Aiken took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Midland Valley. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Aiken in their matchups with Midland Valley: they've now lost four in a row.
South Aiken's loss came despite strong showings from Terrence Smith and Javarse Houston. Smith scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six assists, while Houston scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points.
South Aiken's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Midland Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12.
South Aiken will head out on the road to face off against Aiken at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Aiken will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Midland Valley, Midland Valley and North Augusta will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Augusta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Midland Valley in South Carolina (North Augusta is ranked 14th, while Midland Valley is ranked 216th).
