Basketball Recap: Huntington Beach Comes Up Short

Huntington Beach lost against Corona del Mar back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Huntington Beach Oilers fell 71-63 to the Corona del Mar Sea Kings. While losing is never fun, the Oilers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Sea Kings are ranked 55th).

Huntington Beach's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Corona del Mar, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Huntington Beach will square off against Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Corona del Mar, they will take on Los Alamitos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Los Alamitos' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
