After each having a week off, the Reed Raiders and the Bishop Manogue Miners will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Reed put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They blew past Galena 50-13. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won six in a row.

Reed got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaysan Rivero out in front who rushed for 91 yards and three scores on only seven carries. Rivero has become a key player for the Raiders: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Bronwyn Rios was another key rusher, gaining 129 total yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Reed proved: they limited Galena to a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Rivero for the heroic effort on defense: he. Reed didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.8.
Reed's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Raymond Maveni was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 win over Douglas last Friday. Given the Miners' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Tigers are ranked 29th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Manogue's win came from a few key players Reed will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brandon Mann, who threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 77 yards. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amir McGruder, who rushed for 124 yards and three TDs.
Bishop Manogue now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Reed, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Reed has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bishop Manogue struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Reed came up short against Bishop Manogue when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 35-28. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
