Baseball Game Preview: Pawnee Black Bears vs. Tonkawa Buccaneers

Pawnee is 2-8 against Tonkawa since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Black Bears will be playing at home against the Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m. Pawnee has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pawnee is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs last Monday, they were much more limited against Ripley on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to the Warriors.

Cale McPeek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Tonkawa had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Wildcats. The Buccaneers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 10-2).

Westyn Freeman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Freeman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brett Shepherd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Loudyn Alexander, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Pawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Tonkawa, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
