Paris hasn't had much luck against George Rogers Clark recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Greyhounds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m.
Paris fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against St. Patrick on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints. The Greyhounds' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Kody Trumbo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashaad Sanford, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George Rogers Clark). They blew past Paris 13-1 on Monday. Considering the Cardinals have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ben Fulks, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Najee Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
George Rogers Clark always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paris only posted an OBP of .316.
The victory (which was George Rogers Clark's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Paris, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Paris has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like George Rogers Clark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Paris suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to George Rogers Clark when the teams last played on Monday. Will the Greyhounds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
