Recap: Pioneer Valley Regional Panthers vs. Franklin County Tech Eagles
The Pioneer Valley Regional Panthers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to Franklin County Tech 41-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pioneer Valley Regional in their matchups with Franklin County Tech: they've now lost seven in a row.
Franklin County Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Gilbert led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five assists. Gilbert continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lea Chapman, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Pioneer Valley Regional's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Franklin County Tech, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer Valley Regional will take on Springfield Renaissance at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield Renaissance will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for Franklin County Tech, they will be playing at home against Nashoba Valley Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
