Basketball Recap: South Webster Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cailee Blevins and Addi Claxon

South Webster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 50-33 bruising from the Portsmouth West Senators. The Jeeps were probably out for revenge after losing 56-36 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

South Webster's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Addi Claxon, who posted 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Cailee Blevins, who scored seven points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Claxon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Hamilton, who had four points.

South Webster's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Portsmouth West, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

South Webster wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 76-41 defeat against Northeast Dubois on the 18th. As for Portsmouth West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-34 win against Ironton on the 18th.
