Basketball Recap: Jordan Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mountain House over Central Catholic

Mountain House fought the good fight in their overtime match against Central Catholic on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Central Catholic Raiders 65-60. The Mustangs lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in February of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 81-44 score last time.

Mountain House's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Williams, who posted 17 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Coldin Parker, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Central Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Magana out in front who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points and four steals. Magana has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Manjot Mann, who had ten points.

Mountain House's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-9. As for Central Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Mountain House will challenge Oakdale at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain House is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season. As for Central Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-51 loss against Pitman on the 11th.
