Basketball Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Melbourne Central Catholic had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it seven. They were outmatched by the Providence School Stallions and fell 79-36. The Hustlers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-23.

As for Providence School, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 31 points or more this season.

Providence School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was William Stewart out in front who went 8-for-13 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Stewart is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last four games he's played. Marvin Christie was another key player, shooting 71% from the field en route to 10 points along with eight boards and six assists.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Melbourne Central Catholic will be home for the holidays to greet Cocoa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence School, they will welcome Fernandina Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
