Nolan Boyce continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 147.5 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Victoria West's leading receiver Jeret Swanson was Boyce's top target yet again, picking up 109 receiving yards and one score.
Meanwhile, Tivy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 42-34.
Victoria West better focus on containing Aiden Zavala and President Calamaco as the pair were huge in Tivy's win. Zavala gained 152 total yards and a touchdown, while Calamaco picked up 124 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 73 yards. Brodie Dale got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Tivy, racking up 18 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dale, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Josh Wheatfall.
Victoria West's record now sits at 5-0. As for Tivy, their record is now 4-1.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Victoria West has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 219.4 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Tivy has preferred to attack from the air: they average 298.8 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Victoria West strolled past Tivy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 45-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
