Baseball Game Preview: St. James Academy Thunder vs. Shawnee Mission South Raiders

The St. James Academy Thunder will square off against the Shawnee Mission South Raiders on Wednesday. St. James Academy will be strutting in after a win while Shawnee Mission South will be coming in after a loss.

On Saturday, St. James Academy earned a 5-1 victory over Heritage Christian Academy. That's two games straight that the Thunder have won by exactly four runs.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission South fell victim to Lawrence Free State and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 1-0. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Firebirds recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

St. James Academy's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Shawnee Mission South, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-2.

St. James Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Shawnee Mission South in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
