Basketball Game Preview: Schenectady Patriots vs. Columbia Blue Devils

The Schenectady Patriots and the Columbia Blue Devils will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Schenectady will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Schenectady is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Niskayuna on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Schenectady came up short against Niskayuna, falling 60-37. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly 23 points.

Meanwhile, Columbia was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 63-59 to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Schenectady's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Schenectady beat Columbia 72-61 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Schenectady have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
