Deep Creek is 10-0 against Hickory since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Deep Creek Hornets will look to defend their home court against the Hickory Hawks at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Deep Creek's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Last Saturday, Deep Creek made easy work of Gainesville and carried off a 62-36 win. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Hickory's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 67-39 loss at the hands of Grassfield. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 25th).

Deep Creek has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.4 points. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything came up roses for Deep Creek against Hickory in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 76-21 victory. Does Deep Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hickory turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
