The Algonac Muskrats will head out to face off against the Romeo Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Algonac fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against North Branch on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Broncos. The Muskrats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Morgan Reams spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jaycee Reams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Ava Murray also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Romeo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Port Huron Northern 9-8. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Romeo also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Katie Murphy gave up five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Romeo got a big performance out of Sarah Jesperson, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Jesperson a new career-high. Maegan Myers was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Romeo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Algonac, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Algonac hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Romeo struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Algonac came out on top in a nail-biter against Romeo when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Muskrats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
