Baseball Game Preview: Granite City Warriors vs. Springfield Senators

The Granite City Warriors will head out to take on the Springfield Senators at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Granite City has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 22.

On Thursday, Granite City came up short against Waterloo and fell 5-1.

Granite City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Brewer, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Springfield was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Mt. Zion by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Senators have suffered since April 26th.

Caiden Bietsch was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Springfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Granite City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Granite City skirted past Springfield 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
