Baseball Recap: Knott County Central Patriots vs. Paintsville Tigers
Knott County Central extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 18-10-1. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paintsville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in March.
Knott County Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Amburgey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Paintsville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.
On Paintsville's side, Kruz Howell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
At the plate, Shane Blair was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Stratton, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Coming up, Knott County Central will challenge Danville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Paintsville, they will be playing at home against Martin County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
