Football Recap: Bartow Takes a Loss

Bartow fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Durant on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 46-40 to the Cougars. Even if the Yellow Jackets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Despite the loss, Bartow still got an impressive performance from Ethan Brous, who threw for 417 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Major McBath, who picked up 153 receiving yards and one score.

Durant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Porter, who picked up 124 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Porter continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Maurice Kenne was another key player, rushing for 104 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Bartow is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6. As for Durant, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Bartow will be playing at home against Lake Wales at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 963 yards in their previous games. Durant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
