Softball Recap: Ocean View Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Ocean View's offense. They fell 4-0 to the University Trojans on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Seahawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ellie Pendergraft spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Mackenna King made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Ocean View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Ocean View's record now sits at 2-12. As for University, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Ocean View will welcome Calvary Chapel at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for University, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Irvine at 3:30 p.m. on April 7.
