Football Recap: Izzy Garcia and Alex Dominguez Pace Riverside Defense

Riverside was the 32-20 winner over Parkland when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rangers fell 43-36 to the Matadors on Friday.

Despite the loss, Riverside still got an impressive performance from Carlos Rojas III, who rushed for 198 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 175 yards and one touchdown. Rojas III is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Riverside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Izzy Garcia and Alex Dominguez.

Carter Perez was a one-man wrecking crew For Parkland. as he rushed for 164 yards and three scores while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Those 164 rushing yards gave Perez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Gonzalez, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Parkland, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Riverside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 59-35 victory against Clint on the 12th. As for Parkland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 49-22 loss against Hobbs on the 12th.
