Basketball Recap: Franklin Wildcats vs. Davis Sr. Blue Devils

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 1 on the offensive boards, a fact the Franklin Wildcats proved on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over Davis Sr.. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklin found their leader in underclassman Aiden Rollins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Gregory Piotrowski was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Davis Sr. had strong showings from Aidan Crawford, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, and Jadyn Coaker, who scored 16 points.

Davis Sr. struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Davis Sr., they dropped their record down to 7-16 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on the Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cosumnes Oaks and the Wildcats are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Davis Sr., they will head out on the road to challenge the Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jesuit will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
