Softball Recap: Omro Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Berlin, Omro was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Markesan Hornets.

Lucy Brey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Omro got a big performance out of Kira Button, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Button a new career-high. Lainey Eckstein also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Omro's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-16. As for Markesan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-2 record this season.

Omro will take on Campbellsport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Markesan, they will be playing at home against Berlin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
