Soccer Game Preview: Westwood vs. Spring Valley

Westwood is 0-5 against Spring Valley since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Westwood Redhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Spring Valley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Spring Valley heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Westwood took over last week. Westwood walked away with a 3-1 victory over Brookland-Cayce on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redhawks.

Jasmine Simon and London Hudson scored all three of Westwood's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring Valley). Their defense stepped up to hand Ridge View an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now won nine in a row.

The victory got Westwood back to even at 5-5. As for Spring Valley, the win also got them back to even at 5-5.

Westwood might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Spring Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can Westwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
