Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Crusaders vs. Community Christian

The First Baptist Crusaders will head out on the road to challenge Community Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

First Baptist is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Fourth Baptist Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that First Baptist blew Fourth Baptist Christian out of the water with a 48-12 final score. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Lydia Wynja was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of First Baptist's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Nelson, who posted six points and three blocks.

First Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Community Christian put another one in the bag back in January to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Lake Region Christian as Community Christian made off with a 52-31 win. With Community Christian ahead 52-31 at the half, the game was all but over already.

First Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.6 points over those games. As for Community Christian, their record is now 3-0.

First Baptist came up short against Community Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 35-26. Can First Baptist avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
