West fell to Lorena 55-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Connally and La Vega played the most contested game in 3A Region III District 17 this week, with Connally eventually emerging with a 62-60 victory.
The Leopards' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harris Coleman threw for 106 and 4 touchdowns and Andrew Marrero had 39 yards receiving. On the ground Jared Poteet chipped in 148 yards. Poteet helped Lorena's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 29 yards.
He went 9-12 with 0 interceptions.
Poteet was a passing and rushing force as Lorena beat the Trojans. Poteet's favorite target this week was Marrero, who caught 3 passes for 39 yards.
Coleman put up the best numbers in passing as Ray Biles' team defeated West.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Israel Williams. The Connally star has 12 catches for 341 yards.
Kristian Brown of the the Cadets is just 42 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 102 carries Brown has put up 958 yards this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when China Spring takes on the Leopards. The Cougars are currently in fourth, while Lorena is in second.
