Basketball Game Preview: Dawson Eagles vs. Fort Bend Travis Tigers

The Dawson Eagles will square off against the Fort Bend Travis Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.

Last Wednesday, Dawson blew past Alvin, posting a 90-18 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Journey Lovett was her usual excellent self, going 9 for 12 on her way to 23 points and three steals. What's more, she also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Kendall Ford was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten steals.

Dawson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 19 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bend Travis). They breezed by Fort Bend Clements to the tune of 87-31 on Tuesday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 42 point advantage.

Fort Bend Travis is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 21-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Dawson, they pushed their record up to 31-4 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Dawson was taken down by Fort Bend Travis 78-25 in their previous meeting back in December of 2017. Thankfully for Dawson, Queen Egbo (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
