Preview: Gainesville Christian Community Warriors vs. First Christian Lions

After three games on the road, Gainesville Christian Community is heading back home. They will take on the First Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gainesville Christian Community comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 36-6, which was the final score in Gainesville Christian Community's tilt against Northside Christian Academy on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Gainesville Christian Community has suffered against Northside Christian Academy since November 13, 2020.

Meanwhile, First Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 68-44 loss at the hands of St. John Lutheran. First Christian found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post ten fewer assists than your opponent.

Despite the loss, First Christian saw an underclassman step up: Reagan Davis scored 34 points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 77.3% of First Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Gainesville Christian Community bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for First Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Gainesville Christian Community took a serious blow against First Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 56-27.
