The Manley Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Chicago Marshall Commandos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Manley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Manley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They strolled past Prosser with points to spare, taking the game 55-40.
Manley relied on the efforts of Jaklaya Hunter, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 25 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, and DeAhri Hayes, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Hunter has scored at least a third of the Wildcats' points.
Manley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.
Chicago Marshall meant business on Wednesday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Eagle Owls squad that has allowed just 21.25 points per contest. The Commandos blew past North Grand 61-18. The Commandos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Chicago Marshall's win came from a few key players that Manley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chamarre Scott, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Monay Robinson, who shot 58% from the field on her way to 16 points.
Manley's record now sits at 14-7. As for Chicago Marshall, their record is now 15-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Manley has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Chicago Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Manley was dealt a bruising 51-11 loss at the hands of Chicago Marshall when the teams last played back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Commandos' Alysha Murphy, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards.
