Baseball Recap: Asheville School (Independent) Has No Trouble Against Bethel Christian Academy

Asheville School (Independent) barely beat Bethel Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blues were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Crusaders on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Blues in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won three in a row.

Jack Holland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Asheville School (Independent)'s success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juvea Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Collin Gilliland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
