Volleyball Recap: Roncalli Falls Short of Montello in the Playoffs

Roncalli and Montello squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Roncalli had to settle for second. They came up short against the Hilltoppers, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Jets have suffered since October 9th.

While Roncalli was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-22, 25-16.

Gracie Hamann paced Roncalli's offense, picking up seven kills. Hamann got some help from Aubri Riesterer and her 13 assists. Hamann also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Addison Manis, each putting up two.

Montello was led to victory by Rylan Harder and Kyla Calnin. Harder had 13 digs and two aces, while Calnin had six digs and two aces. Harder is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Roncalli's defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 16-15. As for Montello, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 25 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-6 record this season.

Roncalli does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Montello, they will take on Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
