Softball Recap: La Jolla Takes a Loss

La Jolla dropped their record down to 8-13 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 20-8 to the Lincoln Hornets. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 23-2.

Jerri Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Madeleine Ehlert also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Lincoln, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-11. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.9 runs.

On Lincoln's side, Leyahniah Paleafei was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Paleafei a new career-high. Nyema Curtis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

La Jolla wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 26-7 victory against Hoover on the 16th. As for Lincoln, they have also already played their next match, a 27-14 loss against Southwest SD on the 12th.
