Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Austin

Austin hadn't done well against Dripping Springs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Austin Maroons enjoyed a cozy 42-27 win over the Dripping Springs Tigers. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Maroons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 768th, while the Tigers are ranked 185th).

Austin moved to 7-18 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Dripping Springs, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11.

Austin will welcome Westlake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dripping Springs, they will square off against Bowie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
