Baseball Recap: Floydada Drops Highest Score of Season Against Clarendon

Floydada scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Clarendon Broncos, falling 19-12. The Whirlwinds have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Floydada saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliazar Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in March of 2024. JP Lopez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Floydada's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Clarendon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floydada will challenge Quanah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quanah has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.57 runs per game on average), something Floydada will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clarendon, they will take on Wellington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
