Baseball Game Preview: Camp Point Central Panthers vs. Macomb Bombers

The Camp Point Central Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Macomb Bombers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Macomb took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Camp Point Central, who comes in off a win.

Camp Point Central took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Liberty, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Eagles on Wednesday.

Collin Likes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Garrett Neisen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Kolin Bockhold also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Macomb unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-3 to Brimfield.

Macomb saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Langdon Lambert, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Camp Point Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Macomb, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Camp Point Central beat Macomb 10-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
