Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Takes a Loss

Mt. Pleasant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 60-17 defeat at the hands of the Summertown Eagles. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-6.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Pleasant lost, don't look at Ashley Turner. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Turner a new career-high. Zareena Jones was another key player, putting up four points.

Summertown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Busby, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Howell, who had seven points.

Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Summertown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mt. Pleasant Tigers take on the Lewis County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Summertown, they will square off against Loretto at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Loretto is on a four-game streak of home wins, Summertown a ten-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
