Millard South is 8-2 against Bryan since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Millard South Patriots will look to defend their home court against the Bryan Bears at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Millard South has three straight victories, Bryan has 21 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
It was a classic North v. South duel when Millard South faced off against Omaha Northwest on Tuesday. Millard South breezed past Omaha Northwest to the tune of 82-34. The game marked the Patriots' most dominant win of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millard South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Albert, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points. Carter Margheim was another key player, going 6 for 14 to rack up 14 points and seven boards.
Millard South smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Bryan played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Millard West and fell 103-64. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-27.
Millard South will have to keep a close watch on Keyon Williams and Deon Darnell, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bryan's prior game. Williams went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points, while Darnell went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (55%). Another player making a difference was Caden Garrett, who went 5 of 8 to rack up 10 points.
Millard South's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points over those games. As for Bryan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-20.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Millard South has been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 34.8% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Bryan, though, as they've only made 26.8% of their threes this season. Given Millard South's sizable advantage in that area, Bryan will need to find a way to close that gap.
Millard South didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Bryan in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 78-74 win.
