League recap: Sunset's Newport Harbor jumps in national rankings

Sunset league recap: 5/7/12

Behind a 1-1 record over the past week, Newport Harbor made the biggest jump in the national rankings, all the way from 249 to 227.

Lou Payetta was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .357 average with three RBIs. Meanwhile, Huntington Beach put together a 2-1 week.

Marina's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only nine hits and six walks, both of which led the league. On the season, the Vikings have allowed just 148 hits, while striking out 101 batters. Austin Olivas leads the Vikings with 26 strikeouts in 40 innings.

The Sailors's Jordan Desguin led the league with 11 hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .394 and ranks first in the league with 28 hits.
