It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Glenwood can now relate to. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southside Panthers on Friday. The Gators' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Glenwood still got an impressive performance from Cal Lawrence, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one score. Lawrence's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. Carter Judah made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Glenwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Judah and Nate Malone. Judah got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Southside found their leader in sophomore Kole Moody, who threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes. Jaibrien Gresham helped Moody out on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and one TD.
Glenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Southside, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Glenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southside, they will square off against Bayside Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 11.9, the Admirals 10.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
