Basketball Game Preview: Bisbee Pumas vs. Desert Christian Eagles

The Bisbee Pumas will head out to take on the Desert Christian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bisbee is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Monday, Bisbee ended up a good deal behind St. David and lost 53-36.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Desert Christian challenged Tanque Verde last Saturday. Desert Christian snuck past Tanque Verde with a 43-37 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Bisbee better focus on containing Emmy Welch and Priscilla Genteman as the pair were huge in Desert Christian's win. Welch posted 11 points and eight steals, while Genteman had 12 points and five rebounds. Welch is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Welch, who earned four points and five steals.

Desert Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Desert Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Bisbee, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Bisbee beat Desert Christian 37-27 in their previous matchup back in November. Does Bisbee have another victory up their sleeve, or will Desert Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
