Softball Game Preview: Newport Greyhounds vs. White County Central Bears

The Newport Greyhounds are taking a road trip to face off against the White County Central Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newport is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Newport lost 15-3 to Rivercrest on Tuesday.

Newport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Hembrey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Hembrey snagged this season. Another was Sophie Haigwood, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, White County Central came up short against Quitman on Tuesday, falling 16-1. The Bears have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

White County Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Newport, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
