Softball Recap: Sweetwater Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sweetwater ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Merkel Badgers 11-10. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Badgers: they've now won three in a row.

Sweetwater got a massive performance out of Milani Torres, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those three hits gave Torres a new career-high. Phoenix Walker also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Torres wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sweetwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Sweetwater's record now sits at 7-8-1. As for Merkel, their record now sits at 2-4.

Coming up, Sweetwater will head out on the road to face off against Clyde at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clyde will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Sweetwater surely won't give up without a fight. As for Merkel, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Grape Creek at 5:00 p.m.
