Baseball Recap: Louisburg Has No Trouble Against Washington

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Friday. Louisburg blew past Washington 16-0. Considering Louisburg has won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bristol Barbour was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Barbour was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Louisburg got a massive performance out of Max Amren, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Amren's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Luke Schultz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Louisburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Louisburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Washington, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Louisburg will face off against Paola on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.7, the Panthers 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Washington, they will take on Atchison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
