Baseball Game Preview: Auburndale Bloodhounds vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks

The Auburndale Bloodhounds are taking a road trip to face off against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Auburndale took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pasco as Auburndale made off with a 7-1 victory. The Bloodhounds not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th.

Colin Holmes and Hayden Sosa-Morris did most of the damage at the plate: Holmes scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Sosa-Morris went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base was Sosa-Morris' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Seffner Christian on Tuesday.

Carson Dicks looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Marvin Montenegro was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Angel Andujar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Santa Fe Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. As for Auburndale, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.

Auburndale was able to grind out a solid victory over Santa Fe Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Auburndale since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
