Soccer Game Preview: Myers Park vs. Pinecrest

The Myers Park Mustangs will head out to face off against the Pinecrest Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinecrest took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Myers Park, who comes in off a win.

Myers Park had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the 13-goal drubbing they dealt Olympic on Thursday. Myers Park blew past Olympic 13-0. That 13 goal margin sets a new team best for Myers Park this season.

Meanwhile, Pinecrest fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Union Pines on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 4-1. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Pinecrest struggled afterwards.

Their goal came courtesy of Jadyn Lamielle, who's now up to 11 this season.

Myers Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those four matchups. The loss snapped Pinecrest's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-3 record.

Everything went Myers Park's way against Pinecrest in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as Myers Park made off with a 6-0 victory. Does Myers Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pinecrest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
