Football Recap: New Hope Trojans vs. Itawamba Agricultural Indians
New Hope took care of business in their home opener on Friday (barely). They pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over the Itawamba Agricultural Indians. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Despite the defeat, Itawamba Agricultural saw an underclassman step up: Xavier Waters rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also caught a touchdown. Waters got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible62 yards. Another player making a difference was John Austin Wood, who threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Hope will challenge Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Itawamba Agricultural, they will square off against Caledonia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
