Softball Recap: Sheyenne Falls Short Against Ranked Red River

Sheyenne faced Red River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mustangs came up short against the Roughriders, falling 12-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Sheyenne has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Red River, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sheyenne will face off against rival Shanley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Red River is set to take on their familiar foe Devils Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Roughriders' favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Firebirds have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
