Soccer Game Preview: Hoggard vs. Jacksonville

The Hoggard Vikings will head out to take on the Jacksonville Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Hoggard sitting on five straight victories and Jacksonville on 12.

Hoggard's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Laney with a sharp 4-0 win. Considering Hoggard have won 12 games by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville made easy work of New Bern on Tuesday and carried off a 5-0 victory. Give Jacksonville's defense some credit: that's the team's seventh straight shutout.

They hit New Bern with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sienna Corless (2), Ryder Perry, Isabelle Foley, and Olivia Doyle.

Jacksonville's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six contests. As for Hoggard, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.

Hoggard was able to grind out a solid victory over Jacksonville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
