Softball Recap: Rockford Auburn Has No Trouble Against Jefferson

Rockford Auburn's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Jefferson J-Hawks with a sharp 12-1 victory. Considering the Knights have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maylee Baker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, KayKay Hudson and Lily Parr did most of the damage at the plate: Hudson went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Parr went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Eva Ostergard, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Rockford Auburn's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Jefferson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rockford Auburn is set to challenge their familiar foe Belvidere at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will square off against rival Freeport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
