Basketball Preview: Southside Tigers vs. Fountain Inn Fury
The Southside Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Fountain Inn Fury at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Southside was able to grind out a solid win over the Bears, taking the game 60-48.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fountain Inn's strategy against the Mustangs on Friday. Fountain Inn was the clear victor by a 76-54 margin over the Mustangs. Given Fountain Inn's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southside's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-14. As for Fountain Inn, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.
Southside came up short against the Fury when the teams last played back in January, falling 65-61. Can Southside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
